I love technology. The process of giving intelligence to an inanimate object is deeply creative. Moreover, technology offers more than just beauty or fun; it brings about societal change. It aids the transformation that led us from primates to what we are now (primates with less hair). I do not believe that any past era was better, at least not on a civilization scale. In my opinion, people who dislike technology are mistaken. It is the misuse of technology that they should reject. Technology is simply the practical application of scientific knowledge. Science, in turn, is merely a way of thinking—one that strives to avoid contamination by beliefs, desires, or opinions. Science is based solely on proven and verified facts and is always subject to competitive review among equally qualified people.
Technology will neither save the world nor destroy it. It is we, the people, who decide how to use a hammer—whether as a tool or a weapon.
